At night she sleeps

in a mask

 

rippled tubing

pumping air

into her chest

 

expanding her

 

ribs so that

she breathes

 

he sits across

the waiting room

 

while she waits

 

for another

procedure thinking

 

how come nightfall

that tubing is

her only connection.
